When It Rains It Pours – ever use this metaphor?
Normally used to imply negativity- would it surprise you to learn the phrase actually stood for innovation and advancement?
The phrase first appeared in 1911 when it became the slogan of the Morton Salt Company. It actually represents innovation!
The company created and sold salt to the general public. Rainy weather would cause a house to build up humidity which would cause the salt to clump together. When they discovered a way to prevented the salt from clumping despite weather conditions, the company used this slogan to indicate that “even when there was inclement weather the salt would not clump together and would still pour”!!
Things are not always as they seem. And with time we begin to believe our impressions- real or not- UNLESS we keep questioning.
Keep asking yourself:
Is that true?
Is it really true?
What else is possible?
What am I missing?
